Glacier National Park- August 3, 2008

Well, okay so the summer has not gone quite how we had hoped. Like the saying goes: “If you want God to laugh, tell Him your plans.” While we have been out in the high country a few times since the last post, we have not had the time to hoof it up a 14’er yet this year. With my dad taking ill and some very busy weeks at work for us both we have had to trim back our outings quite a bit but we still have a ways to go.

This posting will have pictures at our website:

of our recent trip to Glacier National Park, Montana when we went to see my dad. As usual, this park is a prime example of the beauty that the Lord made and almost seems too perfect when you are there. I have always wanted to take a digital camera up there. Growing up in that state I never got up to the park until 1992 after I had moved away to Denver.

Debra had never been there and it was 30 minutes from our hotel in Kalispell. I always marvel at the fairy tale looking mountain scenes and the water just running down the sides of the mountains everywhere you go. This year they had 1 mile of the narrow “Going To The Sun Highway” closed so it was a 1 lane road. The water just cascades across the road to drop down the mountains so it erodes easily. You are at the bottom one minute and then looking a long way down the way you came the next. Taking pictures can be a challenge due to the very narrow highway. You can stop a lot but sometimes to get the right shot we had to "take em on the fly" and Debra did a bang up job getting some great shots in motion.

Enjoy the photos and look for updates on the mountains down here soon.

“He who forms the mountains, creates the wind, and reveals his thoughts to man, he who turns dawn to darkness, and treads the high places of the earth— the LORD God Almighty is his name.” (Amos 4:13)
