The Last Hike Of The Year?

With summer gone and the fall colors ending and leaves crashing to the ground the hiking season is coming to a close. Soon it will be off to snowshoe! But we had the opportunity to get out in the mid 70’s temperatures on the first day of November to take a little stroll in the sticks.

This time it was off to the east entrance to the Beaver Brook Trail which starts on Lookout Mountain at the Windy Saddle and proceeds west. This is a great trail which runs over 8 miles and comes out at the Chief Hosa exit off I-70. It runs way above US Hwy 6 that runs up to Central City. We didn’t do any real rock climbing but the area is filled with boulder fields from massive rocks that collapsed decades ago and went down the mountain. As you walk through the thick tree lines forest you come upon the boulder fields which run about 30 yards across.

The area is complete with lots of great views of the foothills as well as some peaks and snow can be seen indicating winter is near. The picture set can be viewed and downloaded at our photo site at:

Some words of wisdom from the book of Proverbs……

1 To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue. 2 All a man's ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD. 3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. 4 The LORD works out everything for his own ends— even the wicked for a day of disaster. (Proverbs 16:1-4)
